Graphic Design

The Screen Machine has a full time graphic design team to assist you with virtually any level of creative art. Send us or stop in with your vectored artwork, hand drawing, or simply an idea. Our designers will work with you to achieve a professional image, ready to print.

Stock Screen Printing Inks

We offer a variety of stock ink colors. Our ink chart references the closest PMS color match for each color. Keep in mind that all monitors display colors differently. Using a Pantone Solid Coated color book will give you the most accurate color.

PMS color matching is available for an additional cost.

Foil

Foil is a heat press process applied to your screen printed garment that has been specially treated with a clear foil adhesive. Available in many different colors, add this to your design to make specific details stand out.

Process

Have a photo-realistic design? We can handle that! 4- Color Process uses transparent cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks to create the photo realistic look.

Glitter

Glitter inks have an eye catching glint to them, making them great for accenting specific parts of a design or making your whole design sparkle. The “glitter” effect is the result of coarse metal glitter embedded in the ink. These larger metal flakes reflect lots of light.

Metallic Shimmer

Like “metal flake” car paints, Metallic Shimmer has fine metal glitter embedded in the ink. Similar to the Glitter and Sparkle inks, the fine glitter creates a more subtle “shimmer” effect.

Sparkle

Similar to Glitter and Metallic Shimmer, Sparkle ink has medium fine metallic flakes embedded in the ink.

Rhinestones

An excellent accent, Rhinestones add a contemporary fashion element to your apparel. Great for spirit wear and cheer.

Discharge

This type of ink will give your print a super soft feel. Must be printed on a 100% cotton garment and it won’t feel like a screen print at all.

Glow In The Dark

Use Glow In The Dark ink as a design or fashion feature, by outlining or highlighting your design to show up in the dark.

Distressed

Give your design a heavily worn vintage look. The distressed effect strips out areas of the print, very much as you would see with a classic concert t-shirt that has been washed many times.

Color Discharge

Color discharge creates a softer feel on the garment while providing a slightly vintage look to your design. The vintage look of a discharge ink is much more subtle than that of a distressed process.

Puff Ink

Puff is a plastisol ink that expands when exposed to high heat. This creates a 3-D effect that adds depth and dimension to your print.

Liquid Gel

This ink when printed on top of another ink gives a glossy/wet effect. When used alone, printed directly on a garment it creates a tonal print. A very cool effect that is right at home on school spirit wear.

Specialty Screen Printing Inks

For a more creative way to showcase your design, our specialty inks are a perfect solution.

Glitter, crystalline, metallic ink and metallic foil are a great way for adding a little shimmer to any design.

Our discharge ink can be used for projects where you want a vintage look or a soft hand feel.

Check out our portfolio pages for printed examples utilizing specialty inks.

CAD Cut Vinyl Colors

We can add personalized names to your garments. We use CAD Cut vinyl in a variety of stock colors. Standard letter size is 2” height, but we can accomodate smaller and larger sizes if needed. Standard fonts such as Pro-Narrow, Varsity and Tiffany are commonly used for team uniforms.

Numbering Styles

Athletic sports numbering for team uniforms and jerseys are available in several screen printed styles. Numbers can be printed in 1 or 2 colors and in a variety of sizes. Refer to our numbering style chart for available options.

Print Placement

Our print placement chart can be used as a reference for location and sizes of prints that we offer. Some restrictions may apply due to the size of the actual garment and the printable area. Upon receipt of goods, a final determination can be made.

Artwork Requirements

Print ready is a term used to refer to artwork that can be used for printing without requiring any changes. When submitted artwork is not print ready, production time may be delayed and additional art charges may apply. Please follow the guidelines listed below when submitting artwork:

Artwork File Types

VECTORED ART FILE – Vectored art is clean, print ready artwork that can be resized without losing any quality or clarity. Fonts should be converted to outlines and all colors should be in PMS spot colors. Vectored art is created in programs like Adobe Illustrator and Corel Draw.

Acceptable vectored file formats: .Ai .PDF .EPS .CDR

RASTER ART FILE – Raster files are composed of pixels and are generally created in Adobe Photoshop. Raster graphics are best used for non-line art images – specifically digital photographs, scanned artwork or detailed graphics. Low resolution files may require additional art time and fees to become print ready.

Acceptable raster file formats: .TIFF .JPEG .GIF .BMP

Artwork File Types

SPOT COLOR PROCESS – Spot color process is printed by separating each color of the design into its own screen. A vectored art file is needed in order to achieve a clean crisp look. Using our stock color ink chart or a custom PMS ink match, for each color, in the design is required in order to avoid color issues.

FOUR COLOR PROCESS – All artwork for a process print must have a resolution of 300 dpi or higher and be at the final output size. Lower resolution results in pixelated or blurry images. Please keep in mind any image taken from the web is low resolution.
